My Uncle Rajasahab RAJENDRASINH JADHAV(DEULGAON RAJA, BULDHANA) was a student of Daly Collge (1940-1950) mind you....only the BLUE BLOOD Boys were allowed then. The Principal then Mr Marchant,an Englishman had an eye for my uncle, as he was extraordinarily brilliant, especialy Geography,Math & English..Mr Marchant's favorites.
We have been regaled by tales of Daly college since 30 yrs. Some of
them :
1. During lunch he would empty the first course (veg) under the table...to wait for the second course (n.veg)...cause it was compulsory as per the then Headmaster Mr Sharma.
2.He won 1st prize in Hindi (sub Diwali)& how !! in class 7...by 1/4 mark.. 37 pgs, without a single spelling mistake....in fact the 2nd place went to Kunwar Prithvisingh Deo of Dotria..(10 km from Ratlam)...cause he missed out on a "matra".
3.How the next Pricipal Mr Miller used to declare a holiday everytime it rained & encourage evreyone to play football...he being an avid soccer fan.
4.That he got 3 double
promotions !
5.He taugt Hindi to Principal Kate..in exchange of him teaching Marathi.
6.How his sisters used to frolic in the swimming pool (summer vacations) as Mr Sharma was a close family friend
He fondly spoke of his close pals :Prince Prabir,Bastar.Kunwarsahab Prithvisingh, Dotria. & many Nawabs & Rajas of the erstwhile states. He was related to H.H. Dhar & H.H.Indore.

On your 150th anniversary,Am sure my uncle would be toasting along with his pals...with spirits...in spirit..on one of your grounds.

God Bless & Good Luck
